About Me -

Hi, I’m Grey, a Licensed Practical Nurse, a mom of two, and the founder of It Takes a Village.

I provide nurse-led postpartum and newborn support for families during the first year after birth. My work includes scheduled overnight newborn care, as well as text-based and email-based support, all designed to offer calm, evidence-informed guidance and continuity during early parenthood.

Why this work matters to me:

My own experiences becoming a parent included medical complexity, long nights, and the emotional strain that can come with the postpartum period. Those experiences shaped how I understand this stage of life.

I learned early that recovery after birth isn’t only physical. Mental and emotional wellbeing matter, and having steady, knowledgeable support can make this period feel more manageable.

That understanding guides how I work with every family.

How I support families:

Overnight newborn/postpartum care

Overnight care is designed to protect parents’ rest while their baby is attentively and professionally cared for. During a scheduled overnight shift, I provide calm, non-invasive nursing support. This includes observing newborn wellbeing, supporting feeding and settling, monitoring postpartum comfort and healing, guiding basic wound or incision care when appropriate, and watching for early signs of concerns or infection. The focus is rest, reassurance, and peace of mind.

Daytime support

Daytime support offers flexible, in-home assistance during the day. Time can be used for newborn care, parent education, or a combination of both, based on family needs.

Support may include newborn care while parents rest or step out, feeding and settling support, and hands-on education related to routine newborn care. Education can focus on topics such as feeding techniques, soothing strategies, safe sleep practices, and establishing daytime routines, as appropriate.

Support is provided within scheduled time blocks and is tailored to the family’s priorities for that time.

Text-based support

Text support offers access to professional nursing guidance for everyday questions and reassurance, helping families feel supported between periods of in-person care.

Email-based support

Email support is a written option for families who prefer time to reflect, ask questions, and receive clear, evidence-informed responses at a steady pace.

I work calmly, respectfully, without judgment & within my Practical Nursing Scope.

My role is to observe, explain, and support in a way that helps families feel informed and understood, while respecting both the clinical and human sides of early parenthood.
